Solar Installation in Foster City, CA

Foster City is a planned community on reclaimed bay land, developed from the 1960s around a system of lagoons. That history shapes solar work in a few specific ways: many homes were built in the same era with similar layouts, a large share of residents live in townhomes, condos, or HOA-managed communities, and afternoon bay winds are a normal part of life. Clean Energy Renewables designs Foster City systems with those conditions in mind.

We are a California-licensed contractor (License #1119067) based in Silicon Valley, with journeyman electricians and C-10 contractors overseeing electrical and roof work.

Similar homes, different roofs

Because Foster City neighborhoods were built in phases, you will find rows of homes with matching rooflines. That can make design quicker, but we still survey each roof, since additions, skylights, vents, and neighboring two-story homes change shading and layout. We use Enphase microinverters so each panel runs independently, and we show you production modeling before you sign anything.

Wind near the bay

Open ground near the lagoons and bay lets afternoon winds reach roofs with little interruption. Mounting systems are engineered to the wind-load requirements for the site, and our job is to choose hardware and attachment layouts that meet them. If you hear about wind concerns from a neighbor, ask us what load conditions we design to for your address.

Townhomes, condos, and HOAs

California’s Solar Rights Act limits how far an HOA can go in blocking solar, but associations can still set reasonable rules about placement and appearance, and shared roofs add their own complications. If your Foster City home is in an association, ask the board what its approval steps are before you request quotes. We can provide the layout drawings and equipment details the association typically asks for. For attached homes, we also look at whether the roof is yours or the association’s, because that decides who must approve what.

Batteries and EV chargers for attached garages

Townhome garages tend to be tight. Placing a battery or a Wall Connector involves clearances, ventilation, and panel capacity, and we plan these before ordering equipment. We install Tesla Powerwall and Enphase IQ batteries and Tesla Wall Connectors and other home chargers.

Foster City is in San Mateo County, so your generation is supplied by WestLight Energy (formerly Peninsula Clean Energy) with PG&E delivering it. New solar customers are on net billing, where export credit is modest, so we size to household use and model a battery where it makes sense.

Permitting in Foster City

The City of Foster City has been using SolarAPP+ for automated permitting of eligible new residential rooftop solar projects. The program covers standard installations, so projects with unusual designs follow the regular route. We handle the application, scheduling inspections, and the PG&E interconnection steps through Permission to Operate.
